Election Surprise: First Take

The results of yesterday’s national election were a surprise to us and almost all investors. Markets are adjusting to uncertainty arising from a Trump Presidency and Republican Congress. The circumstances call for vigilance. In financial markets, there will be winners and losers. We will continue to assess investment implications as the new administration’s policy directives become clearer. Our view is that the appropriate portfolio response should take into consideration each client’s objectives and guidelines including their tolerance for risk. We continue to encourage investors to adopt a 6-12 month horizon and remain flexible in implementing investment strategy.
